The Only Trans Person You Know

    Episode Number: 51

Trans people are a small percentage of the population, though there's actually more than any reports can show. But that means for many cis people out there, if you know a trans person, they're probably the only trans person you know. They're probably the only trans person a LOT of people know. Which means we're constantly getting bombarded with questions (or worse) about our existence from all sides, and the cumulative effect of that can be a problem. Writer/costume designer Aoife Baker returns to discuss stilettos as murder weapons!

    Gendered Childhoods

    Episode Number: 50

A lot of people don't realize how children in our society are bombarded with the "right" and "wrong" ways to be a certain gender, or just how compulsory being a cisgender heterosexual person is. And this damages all kids in all kinds of ways, and makes life much more difficult for trans kids. Writer and costume designer Aoife Baker joins us to discuss hot lady assassins and how we as a society should be beyond urinal cakes!

Trans Grief 2 (aka The Past 3, aka The New Past 2)

    Episode Number: 49

Okay, so you know that I received the AI-generated yearbook photos of a younger me that didn't get to exist... but what you don't know is what they did to me. So we're gonna discuss it, in depth, and the history that wasn't. And it's going to be hard, but something important happened and we need to talk about it. Housewife and writer Miriam Robern returns to discuss being a transbian tradwife! We are hot dorks.

This concludes season one! Thank you all so much for listening, I hope this show has helped you in some way, and maybe made you feel less alone. We'll be back for season two in mid-January!

    Episode Number: 48

I'm not generally a supporter of AI for most things (it isn't even really AI anyway), and yet I cannot deny the impact it's had upon the trans community. So I wanted to write about it, but what I didn't realize is that what I was really writing about is the past and why it's so complicated for people who transition as adults. And what happens when we can get a glimpse of... a new past? A world that was perhaps more kind to us? We're gonna dig in to the most difficult two trans tuesdays I've ever had to write, because it means confronting really hard stuff. Writer and housewife Miriam Robern joins us to discuss clarity, boobs, and looking like our moms!

Trans Voices 3: Interview with Speech-language Pathologist Jein Yi

    Episode Number: 47

It's the final episode of our series on trans voices... an interview with the speech-language pathologist that I saw for my gender-affirming speech therapy! We're going to get into the science behind it all, why AMAB and AFAB voices sound different and what it really takes to change them. It takes a long time and a lot of work, but if you're dedicated and put in the effort (with safe and certified instruction), amazing things can happen. Do you... adore the lore behind Al Gore?

    Episode Number: 46

We continue our discussion of voice, and what that means when you're transgender. This week we discuss my full gender-affirming speech therapy experience, when is the right time to work on pitch, D-I-S-T-E-R-B, and you get to hear a voice timeline... of me saying the exact same thing, from pre-transition, through every stage of speech therapy, on to where I'm at now. It might blow your mind (it certainly did mine). Sound editor Jillian Morgan returns to discuss becoming comfortable with your trans identity and learning how to smile! And folks, please be sure... that if you're doing voice training on your own, you check the credentials of who you're listening to!

    Episode Number: 45

So many of us trans people struggle with our voices. They might spike our dysphoria, or cause us to get misgendered, or just not sound like US. So this week we kick off a three week series all about voice! In this episode, we're going to talk about how incredibly gendered voices are in our society, what that does to us, and how to approach that if you're seeking out gender-affirming voice therapy. Our lovely sound editor Jillian Morgan joins us once again to discuss fabulous cis wives, and the parts of this show that you'll never get to hear. My tummy!

    Finding Our Trans Style

    Episode Number: 33

When you spend your whole pre-transition life stuck in clothes you hate that make you feel awful, it can be overwhelming and difficult to figure out exactly what it is you want to wear, and what you actually like. Screenwriter Max Luque returns us to discuss how he's not a supporter of the long-shorts movement and how validation and self-worth comes from within!

    Privilege (time and money)

    Episode Number: 32

Transitioning takes self-reflection, and courage, and self love... but it also takes time, and money, and often a lot of both. That's a privilege not a lot of trans people have, and we're gonna talk about how that can complicate things. Screenwriter Max Luque joins us to discuss new jeans, and how things are weird and uncomfortable all the time.

    Confidence

    Episode Number: 31

When your every waking moment is dysphoric, being seen can make things so much worse. So we find ways to make ourselves smaller, to go unnoticed... until we transition and maybe everything changes. Artist and activist Leo Wright returns to discuss doing drag while trans, trans trenders, and mind-flipping. Are you jealous of my eyelashes? You should be!

    Cis is Not a Slur

    Episode Number: 30

There are some people out there (dunderheads, let's say) who believe "cis" is a slur and not just an accurate descriptor. They're entirely wrong, and not only do I have the proof, I know exactly why their undies are in a wad over it. The answer may not surprise you! Artist and activist Leo Wright joins us to discuss gender attachments and social upheaval! Card-carrying queers, boxes being no good, sea lioning, the motte and bailey fallacy... we've got it all.

    Transition Setbacks

    Episode Number: 28

The beginning of this year was really rough for me. Nothing in life is a straight line of forward progress forever, so why would transition be? But when it feels like your identity is being stripped away, it can be so difficult to deal with. Compliments

    Episode Number: 27

Compliments! Receiving them pre-transition can be anxiety-inducing, but after transition? Maybe that's changed. And when the way society perceives you changes, you might also be opened up to a new world of being to compliment others. YouTuber Alexis Soucie/TransCinderella returns to discuss melting Legos, the "trans lady in denial uniform," and how the general public really doesn't hate trans people. Try gay today!
