Heavily Gendered Clothes and Trans People

    Episode Number: 15

Clothes, clothes, clothes! The friend, and enemy, of every trans person. Why are they so dang heavily gendered and weird? Why are men's clothes so bland? What the heck is up with pockets (or lack thereof) and buttons (and the side-switching thereof)?! Ezekiel Strange joins us once again, and he encourages you to ~See the Wizards~! We're also gonna talk about what trans men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have in common, and British/European F-boys. I'm a popsicle, and I have no butt!

    The Erasure of Trans Men

    Episode Number: 14

This should come as no surprise, but trans men exist. They're real human beings, actually! So why are they so often forgotten, both in ways that harm them and that harm the rest of the trans community? The answer may not surprise you, and involves willful ignorance. We're joined by astounding artist Ezekiel Strange to discuss this very important topic, and also how failing upward is not aspirational and how men's bathrooms are gross (it's true). Remember that even if it's scary, you can do it, and you're not the first one to go through it. I can't be contained!

Trans Day of Visibility (am I trans enough?)

    Episode Number: 13

Visibility is a double-edged sword. We need to be out to be seen and respected, but doing so puts a target on our back to the bigoted portions of the population. Further complicating things is not just the gatekeeping done by some gas station hot dogs within the trans community, but the gatekeeping that we do to ourselves. We're joined by Melissa Hearne to discuss how acknowledging the binaries helps us find the space between them, and how you get to be who you are, and nobody else gets to tell you who that is.

Finding Our Own Representation - P!nk

    Episode Number: 12

Trans representation (and rep for people from all marginalized communities) is sparse, and when it does happen it's often harmful. And so we have to look elsewhere to see ourselves reflected in our media, and that's what finding our own representation is all about. And we're going to discuss a very personal and meaningful bit of art I've found my own representation in, P!nk. And that involves me spilling my soul and feeling really exposed, so... hope you're ready for that! We're joined by Melissa Hearne to discuss what being genderfluid means to them, how being us helps others be themselves, and how you can wake up each day and just be whatever you want to be.

    The False Dichotomy

    Episode Number: 11

So what the heck is the false dichotomy? It's opposing options that are presented as the ONLY options, it permeates absolutely every part of our society, and it harms all of us, even cis people. But don't buy into it! Life doesn't fit into neat little boxes, nor should it. Library Girl Mina Martinez Oldham joins us again, and we also discuss the importance of being seen and how playing is part of experimenting... and also cute non-binary librarians, culinary cruelty, and how trans women go where no man has gone before. Oh, also? I'm sunshine!

    Trans Intersectionality

    Episode Number: 10

Intersectionality! It's vital for every marginalized community, including us trans folks. But guess what? It doesn't (and can't) only apply to us, and people from other marginalized communities need US to be intersectional, too. We don't need to hurt others just to stand up for ourselves. We're joined by the Library Girl, Mina Martinez Oldham, to remind you that you support people from other marginalized communities is by listening to them, and believing them... just like we need cis people to do for us. You're also gonna learn how eggs recognize eggs, how coming out never ends, and how my breasts are perfect (listen, they just are).

    Trans Body Hacking

    Episode Number: 9

Body hacking?! You better believe it. And we all do it, trans and cis alike. Learn all about it and gain a better understanding of how we're all really more alike than you might think. We're again joined by Jack Knoxville of the Trans Empowerment Project, and we're here to remind you there's no roadmap to transition. Everyone's on their own journey, and yours is valid whatever it may be. And hey, you also get to learn about capes and Spider-Man, and how I very much like being alive!

    False Allyship

    Episode Number: 8

What happens when allies aren't allies? What happens when their allyship is only performative? And what happens when it goes a step further, and becomes not just performative but also outright transphobic? You're gonna find out! We're joined by Jack Knoxville of the Trans Empowerment Project, and talk about clothing swaps, how being called on your bigotry is not equal to your actual bigotry, and how trans people are all such badasses (it's true!). And cis friends, remember that when you see transphobia, saying nothing makes it worse. We don't need you to be perfect, we just need you to TRY. Ask how to help if you're not sure!

Interview with Quantum Leap writer Shakina

    Episode Number: 7

It's our interview with writer/director/actor Shakina, all about the recent episode she wrote for the Quantum Leap reboot, episode 112 "Let Them Play." We discuss taking the episode from concept to screen, cis folks wanting to mine trans people's trauma for story drama, living portraits, and just how special and vital this very trans episode was, and WHY it's so important and why this kind of representation matters across the board. You're also going to learn the absolutely vital difference between allies and accomplices. And hey... don't be a garbage goblin.

    The Signs Were Always There

    Episode Number: 6

This week we’re going to take a personal look into my past to look at how the signs we're trans were always there, even when we refused to see them. There’s no other way to say this than… this is gonna be embarrassing. For me. And hey, sometimes you out yourself post-transition without even realizing it, but that's okay, because trans is a process. We're joined once again by Laser, who is great and makes great things! His new solo album Overreacting is out February 10, and we've got a special preview of The Way That You Look At Me, a new track from the album (Nate the scientist says hi)!

What Real Cis Acceptance Looks Like

    Episode Number: 5

This week’s topic is one that’s really important and involves the cis folks out there just as much as it involves any transgender person. We’re talking about What Real Cis Acceptance Looks Like (and cis folks, please spread the word on this)! We're joined by the multi-talented Laser, whose new solo album Overreacting is out February 10! Remember: trans is just another kind of woman you can be, and every trans person is valid. YES, even YOU. You'll also learn about the lexicon of maleness, bros starting fires, and how no one has a writing career anymore!

    Trans Roles and Stories

    Episode Number: 4

This week is all about trans roles in media, and trans stories... also in media (that's where stories go, I don't make the rules). Rather than discussing specific stories and roles, we're going to talk about who gets to tell those stories, and who gets to play those roles, and why. Is my voice still sore? Yes. Will you notice? Also yes. We're joined by actress and certified funny lady Eileen Noonan (her webseries Smoosh is coming soon!), and hey... Chris Hemsworth's arms are feminist icons!

    Trans Representation in 2022 media

    Episode Number: 3

It's our trans rep in 2022 media retrospective, covering the good, the bad, and the confusing trans (and trans-adjacent) content across 20+ movies and 60+ seasons of television I saw last year! There's also talk about when transition ends, and discussion about how we all smell (wouldn't you like to know). Apologies for my scratchy voice, we recorded this the day after I ran a TTPRG game and talked for an entire afternoon, and it shows. This week we're joined by comic writer supreme, Lilah Sturges (her book "The Science of Ghosts" is out later this year!). We're gonna push it to 14 and get Spock ears for everyone, do not question the Blahaj!

Specific media discussed: Bros, Thor Love and Thunder, Wendell and Wild, Cobra Kai, The Expanse, The Flight Attendant, Gentleman Jack, I Am Groot, A League of Their Own, Loot, Los Espookys, Never Have I Ever, Only Murders in the Building, Our Flag Means Death, Paper Girls, The Peripheral, Queer as Folk, Reservation Dogs, Resident Alien, Russian Doll, Rutherford Falls, Severance, She-Hulk, Star Trek Discovery, Star Trek Prodigy, Star Trek Strange New Worlds, Upload, Wellington Paranormal, Westworld, Quantum Leap, Heartstopper

    Episode Number: 2

Hop in your chair and initiate splinter sequence, because it’s time to talk about: THE PAST. There's also talk of Rocky Horror, bows, Pooh bears, leisure suits (?), and Susan absolutely blows Tilly's mind with an observation on her lifelong love of Superman!
