ABOUT
"STAR WARS: BLUE HARVEST":
"Star
Wars: Blue Harvest" is a serlialized maxi-series adventure
based on the Star Wars film franchise.
The first
thing I ever wrote was a new Star Wars. That's because, as
a kid, I was fanatically obsessed with the movies practically
from day one.
The first
one I saw was Empire, at age fourish. I was scared out my
mind by Vader, and the concept of having to stand up to someone
you love in order to do right. It was my first complex plot.
Well, and there were also lightsabers.
I had
a belt I used to put tubes on and imagine there were multiple
colored lightsabers, and one of the first things I ever wondered
was where the heck Yoda came from, and why he was the only
one of his kind. Without spoiling, that's the germination
of the idea that begins Blue Harvest, my first real attempt
at a serious Star Wars story.
I pared
down what I find to be essentially the best parts of the Star
Wars mythology. Cameos, character, lightsabers, mythology,
and most of all, a very dedicated commitment to taking things
melodramatically over-seriously. With a good reason.
It's
funny, I'm writing this in the summer of 2007, and if all
goes according to plan, we won't even find out what the Blue
Harvest IS until November of 2009. That's because this is
a generational story, and the Blue Harvest, which is foretold
here in the first few episodes, doesn't even come into play
until Deak's Grandson (or daughter?) steps back to where her
grandfather fought, on Myrkyr, in the midst of the beginnings
of the Vong war.
Writers
tend to hate continuity. I love it. I embrace it. And most
Star Wars fans do too, I'd venture. Hopefully, I can deliver
enough nods and fun with a solid story to keep you interested.
If not, well, there's always decapitation in Star Wars, no?
Thanks!
