ABOUT
"SEMINAR":
"Seminar"
is a full-cast, ongoing anthology show with no restrictions on genre.
I've been an
independent radio play director since writing and directing my own
original "Genesis Avalon," so I've really enjoyed the
technical part of the radioplay process, just as much as acting.
While I play several roles with Pendant that I've accumulated over
time, I've kept a close rapport with Jeffrey, and had spoken to
him several times about the projects Pendant was working on.
Then came the
call for directors. After giving him a sample of Genesis Avalon,
and after discussing the possibilities for a show I could work on
for Pendant, we began to have the budding idea for an anthology
series. This certainly appealed to me, because I could do all the
casting and mixing, and I had the added bonus of creating the framework
for these short stories.
Seminar is,
first of all, a classroom. While sci-fi in it's futuristic nature,
the show is about showcasing the scripts sent in, casting them in
the hopes that they fit the characters. I knew I didn't want to
do it in an Outer Limits/Twilight Zone fashion, so I wracked my
brain for something different.
The idea for
the Instructor sort of popped into my head, and I knew what I wanted
to do with the show. I truly enjoy the one-shot nature of each episode,
with the only tie-in being the eerie and knowing Instructor setting
the stage, as it were, for the show.
Hopefully, you'll
find it as much fun as I have since beginning, and as the Instructor
would say:
Please take
your seats, as class is about to begin.
Kathryn Pryde
Co-creator and director, "Seminar"
---
I've wanted
to do an original anthology show ever since Pendant Productions
first formed. Due to other projects and not enough people to work
on them, it took forever to get off the ground.
That's where
the talented Kathryn Pride comes in. She's got big roles in many
of our shows, so I knew she could act. But I never knew she could
direct until I heard her original radio play, "Genesis Avalon".
Impressed with her work I immediately began talking to her about
getting her directing a show for Pendant, and here we are.
The format for
the show, that of the instructor teaching the stories featured in
the anthology as lessons to students in the future is a unique one
that hopefully brings something new to the anthology format. There's
never going to be another Rod Serling, but his genius is certainly
something to aspire to and to inspire us.
Short-form fiction
allows for an entirely different kind of storytelling, and I'm happy
we're finally able to bring that to you through Pendant.
Jeffrey Bridges
Co-creator and editor, "Seminar"
Founder and Executive Producer, Pendant Productions
---
Hello all you beautiful people who are bothering to read this,
I love Seminar. I think that the premise of the show is amazing, and it's a wonderful way to get people writing, and acting. I think this show should be about giving people opportunities, more than anything else.
You like Radio Drama? This show is for you. It's a potpourri of stories given to us by you, our listeners, and brought to life. Above all other things, that faith given by our writers needs to be validated. You trust us with your stories, and it's our job to bring them to life.
If you have a story, I highly encourage you to write it up and send it in to our Editors. They are here to help you, and encourage you upon your path. We need our writers first and foremost, as they give us the scripts that is the lifeblood of the show.
Second, you actors. I don't care if you've never had a role before, or if you've been acting since you played a baby in X show. If you've got decent a decent microphone, and you're willing to bring a character to life, I am willing to cast you. I need you to audition; no, I beg you to audition. You are the players, and we need everyone we can get. Especially you ladies.
Last, and least of all, It is my job to take the script you've written, the characters the actors have brought to life, and bring it together. The faith that Jeffrey and Kat, and well, you, have put in me to do that, is astounding, and I will do my best to validate that faith.
Pendant has been my family for 6 years now, and it's been a rewarding family. It's been there for me when everything in my life seems to go bad. it is my hope that Pendant can be there for other people when similar things go down.
The best entry point is obviously the Pendant Yahoo group. Then, there's obviously auditioning, and I hope Seminar is your place to go, with an ever-changing cast-list, we're looking for your voice.
Get your foot in the door; I promise, I'll be gentle.

Director, Episode 43 onward

SUBMITTING
A SCRIPT FOR INCLUSION IN "SEMINAR":
So
you want to submit a script, eh? Fantastic! We'd love to read it.
There are, however, a few qualifiers:
1.
Your story must be in script form. We do not have time to
convert prose to script. Here's
an example, if you're not familiar with them. All scripts
for "Seminar" (and indeed all shows by Pendant Productions)
need to be in standard screenplay format.
2.
Submitted scripts should be 3 - 15 pages in length.
3.
We cannot accept all scripts sent to us into the show, but we will
accept as many as we can.
4.
The story and characters must be original and created by you. If
you are adapting an existing work, it must be in the public domain.
YOU retain full rights to the stories and characters you create,
and you grant Pendant Productions the right to produce said material
in audio form and to promote "Seminar" using said material.
5.
Scripts should be sent to scripts@pendantaudio.com.
Make sure your subject line includes "Seminar Submission: YourTitleHere".
6.
There is no 6. Have fun and good luck!
More info on script writing and formating is in our FAQ:
