ABOUT
"MARTIAN MANHUNTER: STRANGE VISITOR":
"Martian
Manhunter: Strange Visitor" is an ongoing monthly serial adventure
based on the modern incarnation of the character in DC Comics.
I came up with the basic
premise for Martian Manhunter while taking a 30 hour bus ride to
see Jeffrey Bridges. I heard all kinds of brummagem filth, bottom-of-the-barrel
humanity threatening each other, talking about girls they'd banged
around on. I realized, we as human being see absolutely everything
miserable people do, but imagine the terrible things we'd see if
we could look beyond that and past the lies into the mind.
I realized, holy crap, Martian Manhunter must live his
entire life in mortal terror, hating everyone around him.
But then no, no, I said to myself, he's a good guy. He
loves humanity. Why?
I imagined a scene where he tells us, as he's riding in a
bus to god know's where, to the tune of Bush's Alien.
From then on, I explored why he can forgive us for being
what we are.
I envision Martian Manhunter as the story of what being
beset by a constant total honesty does to someone. It may
not be pretty, but anyone who can soldier through it is
undoubtedly heroic.
And besides, who doesn't love White Martians? Well,
I'll tell you, starting in episode four, but for now...
