ABOUT
"IMPERIUM":
"Imperium"
is a nine-episode crossover story incorporating "Superman:
The Last Son of Krypton," "Batman: The Ace of Detectives"
and "Wonder Woman: Champion of Themyscira."
In
the early winter of 2005, before either of the Batman or Wonder
Woman shows had debuted their first episode, the first inkling
of "Imperium" surfaced. At the time both shows were
well into production on their first handful of episodes and
already the crossover was brewing.
Unlike
the rest of Pendant's shows, the Superman, Batman and Wonder
Woman shows were always intended to share a common continuity.
And so it only seemed natural that at some point their paths
would cross in a major way, and really, what's more exciting
for the fans? And we're fans of these character ourselves
(if we weren't, these shows wouldn't exist) and so we set
about discussing and planning.
Susan,
Sertan and I all knew where our shows were going, generally,
and how they were going to get there. And we knew that, if
we were going to do a crossover there had to be a reason.
A BIG reason. And as far as these three characters are concerned,
there's no bigger reason than the one we went with. No spoilers
here... listen to the preview trailer! :)
We
also worked very hard to make sure no characters were just
tossed into the crossover in order to make it seem bigger
or cooler. That's pointless and something we've got no interest
in. Everyone has a role to play, everything means something,
and things will change for all three characters in big ways.
In
order to pull this project off, our actors had to work triple-duty
for three months which is far more than they ever signed up
for. So thank you, all of you, immensely. You made this possible,
and your amazing work will make it better than we ever hoped
it could be.
